the 80's are finally over.

2 icons of the 80's are gone and i grow older by the day. in my tweens , i knew farrah was the girl for me. like alot a lot of guys, of course i had the poster. i was so cool.we'll miss you, FARRAH
the other icon was a true star in every sense of the word.we all know of his many faults, but no can fault his talent. may he rest in peace.

last week i watched, quite intently , a p b s special re- broadcast of eyes on the prize.
after viewing this piece, i was awed by the quiet dignity of many of the young adults who were interviewed on the show. how brave these folks are to have stood up and perservered .

these are true hero's. think about how brave they are to have walked thru mobs, dogs, rednecks& policemen for what they knew was the right thing to do.

yet there is very little written about people who are heroes.

sad.

PEARL HARBOR TO 9 /11 MEMORIAL DAY 2009

TODAY I MET A MOST AMAZING SITE. IT REINFORCED IN ME WHAT THIS COUNTRY STANDS FOR AND HOW ITS SURVIVED.  AS I WAS STANDING ON A LOCAL STREET , I HAPPENED TO NOTICE  A  OLDER GENT, OBVIOUSLY OF THE" GREATEST GENERATION", WHO WAS , LIKE ME WAITING FOR THE LIGHT TO CHANGE  A FREINDLY SORT, I NOTICED AND COMMENTED ON THE FACT THAT HE WAS WEARING A WHITE ARMY CAP. YOU KNOW THE TYPE, WORE BY VETERANS OF PAST WARS AND WHAT STRUCK ME AND THAT I FOUND SO AMAZING WAS THAT IT READ ON THE EDGE OF THE CAP "  PEARL HARBOR "

THIS FINE FELLOW WAS A SURVIVOR OF THE ATTACK ON PEARL HARBOR. I WAS AWED. I'D NEVER MET A PEARL SURVIVOR.  IN OUR LITTLE CHAT .HE QUICKLY TOLD ME ABOUT BEING ON THE USS ARIZONA ON BATTLESHIP ROW THAT SUNDAY MORNING. I WISH YOU COULD'VE BEEN THERE. IT WAS RIVERTING. AND THEN HE MENTIONED THAT HE WAS ONLY JUST 18 AT THE TIME. AT THIS POINT , HIS FAMILY CAME FOR HIM AND HE HAD TO GO. BUT BEFORE HE LEFT, I SHOOK HIS HAND AND THANKED HIM.

THIS IS WHAT THIS COUNTRY IS ABOUT , PEOPLE WHO DO THE RIGHT THING WHEN ITS NEEDED.

REMEMBER TO THANK A VET.THEY DESERVE IT AND SEND A DONATION TO THE

THE" stand up " ACT, A GREAT IDEA

i recently learned about an idea that makes a hell of a lot of sense. it's called the Stand up  act.  

 The Stand up act - ( h.r. 1895) creates a national graduated licensing law. this  law  limits  nighttime  driving , reduces in-car distractions ( never understood the need for  DVD players in cars )  , puts a cap on the # friends in the car ( a good safety measure for the less experienced drivers)  and increases the required hrs. of training.its  just  basic  comic sense the less distractions and the more training teen drivers get the more that will live. new drivers need to realize  that they are driving and the responsibilities & risks involved.

THEY'LL GIVE YOU THE BEST PRICE AND THEIR STORE CARRIES JEWELRY, COINS STAMPS, TRAINS AND ALL SORTS OF GREAT STUFF.ITS A GREAT BROWSE PLACE.

THE SECOND STORE, FLEETWOOD JEWELERS,  IS A STORE I'VE USED TO BUY, SELL AND REPAIR MY GOOD JEWELRY FOR YEARS. IT IS PERHAPS THE LAST OF THE OLD SCHOOL. its sad that a pro baller like mike vick thought it neccesary to make more $$$ by
funding his decidedly evil dog fighting operation.
what a sick world it is when dogs are raised for the soul purpose of killing other animals. where is the sport in this. reminds me of the lions who attacked the christians in olden times. let's hope mike has changed his erreant ways.

A TRADEDY IN THE MAKING.

WHILE  I  DO  UNDERSTAND  AND  REALIZE  THAT THIS COUNTRY WAS BUILT ON RELIGIOUS FREEDOM , THE RECENT STORY ABOUT THE YOUNG LAD WHO IS IN NEED OF CHEMO AND WHO 'S DISAPPREARED WITH HIS MOM UNDERSCORES THE NEED FOR  SOME SORT OF CONTROLS IN SITUATIONS LIKE THIS.

IF THE PARENTS BELIEFS  ARE IN THE WAY OF A CHILDS MEDICAL NEEDS, AND IT MAYBE A MATTER OF LIFE OR DEATH FOR THE PATIENT , THE PARENTS MUST SACRIFICE THEIR BELIEFS AND DO THE RIGHT THING FOR THE CHILD. IT SHOULD NEVER GET TO THE POINT WERE THE PARENT MAKES THE WRONG CHOICE.

coupons.

yes, coupons.  why is it in these times of govt. bailouts that no politican has  come up with this simple idea.

all of us use coupons when we do grocery shopping&  nothing more annoying then a coupon that says you have to buy more than a single of any particular item in order to save a few shekles. think about it, your using the coupon in order to save money and they want you to spend more !!

let the politicans give a simple hand of help to the average person in the street and tell these guys we need more coupons for single item  or buy 1 get1 coupons. what real savings for the average consumer it will be, and the govt. wouldn't have to give anyone a bailout

seems  sensible enough to me.
